Future Upgrade.

mark2k77 I think 1700 is still the way to go. Spend a little more now and not have to upgrade for a suuuuper long time. The 1700 is the sweet spot. It’s not like he is looking at a threadripper

shiftysatchmo maybe but 50$ is maybe better to invest in better GPU or MBO or something

mark2k77 I think MOBO is the worst place to spend extra money if you aren’t planning to utilize all of the slots and features. The CPU affects capturing, streaming, encoding, AI and physics processing. The card he picked for 1080 will blow everything away for a while. I think CPU is the way to go. But it’s his call I guess he would know what he needs.

About RAM. You picked 4x4GB for $199. Why not 2x8GB of the same memory for $174?
Sure, 4 planks look better, but is it worth $25?

I can suggest Fractal Design - Define S Windowed case for $101. It’s not a full tower, but it doesn’t have a HDD cage inside, so the airflow is great and it has a lot of free space. It has place for 3 140mm fans on front, 3 on top, 1 bottom and 1 rear. It was designed specially for liquid cooling. I use it for two years and absolutely happy.

Can send pics of my setup if required.

artem_zmitrovich Why get the Define S over the the less expensive Fractal Design Define R5?
And as he specced an HDD he needs at least a small HDD cage …

Gorkie I built my PC a couple of months ago with a cheaper case and cooler than what you have and it is great. By the way, don’t forget the cooler takes up your rear fan slot. I’ll show you what I got

This is the cooler I got Gorkie you’ll be able to shave off money and get the 1700 ooo

And this is my case. No need to break the bank on this stuff. Saving here let’s you spend more elsewhere. The case is great. I definitely had to do some creative drilling to fit two radiators in, but you’ll only have one so should be fine for you.

shiftysatchmo Do me a favor, using a 1,500 budget tops when you get a chance do up a pcpartpicker using that case with everything I would need for just the tower including a GPU and the R7 1700. Hell put your build in there if you think it fits for pure gaming. I obviously need more help coming up with these things then I realized lol.

gorkie my build would cost a little over but I’ll slap something together. Probably not today though

shiftysatchmo Alright thanks, I dont mind if it goes over the $1500 by a $100 tops if need be but trying to keep it around 1500-1600 to make sure it takes me less time to get all the parts.

gorkie I’ll shoot for under!
