Nintendo SWITCH

Seems cool. If that docking station has a disk drive for wii u games I’ll be all over it. Otherwise I’ll probably pass unless they release some games that I can’t resist.

Video presenting new Nintendo console called Switch. It’s portable console that can be connected to big TV or played on foot. It has two removable controllers and the optional one that’s not part of the console itself ( more like xbox360 gamepad ). Also it uses some kind of memory cards for games.

It comes out in March 2017.

BTW Nintendo fans are finally getting Skyrim on this console. XD

Ah, so nothing new other than we now know the official name (previously “NX”).

Well and we can see what it looks like

ShiftySatchmo Not so sure about the usage in planes though

As long as there isn’t a subscription service for online features I’ll probably buy it.

Ah they confirmed no wii u or 3ds physical compatibility.

Good! Physical media is a waste of space and makes moving harder. Plus all physical games are broken and only fixable with non-physical patches… so pointless.

gord0 ok…but if I want to play my wii u games I have to keep my wii u or repurchase them digitally. Nintendo digital games basically don’t go on sale, so that’s why physical is still worth buying in my opinion. Plus I can sell them or give them to friends when I’m done. I’m OK with saving space for a few disks to save a bunch of money. Also, you need Internet connection for games no matter what these days, and digital ones get the same patch as physical. And lastly, this system still has physical media.

gord0 also, only about 25% of consumers in the US have Internet speeds above 15 MB/sec. Probably even less in some other countries. I don’t think the world is quite ready for all digital. Heck, my dad can’t even get a hard Internet connection where he lives and has to use his phone as a Hotspot. Physical is the only option for him.

I went physical for my Wii U mostly because the HDD the Wii U came with is smaller than my left foot in drive space. I’m also way to lazy to buy an external drive for it.

I haven’t filled mine yet… though I only have a handful of games for it… but should I fill it before nx releases, I’ll just delete one of them.

gord0 I have Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Mario 3D worlds, Pikmin 3, and a bunch of older Nintendo games on mine. It’s not full but I don’t have enough room to add anymore large Wii U games on it. Just virtual console games. I also have a really hard time deleting old games. I’m always about to then I think “nah I might go back to it soon”. I never do but its enough to stop me.

That, and the store can just decide to take the game down and you are SOL if you don’t have it downloaded already.

I don’t see it that way. If it’s on my account, I own it and can just redownload if I want to play again. Plus most games I beat, rarely get revisited anyway…

Oh I just remembered I plugged a usb hdd into my wiiu… I may very well have filled the internal drive and am actually using that hdd. There you go, grab an el cheapo 1tb usb hdd and never worry about deleting games again… especially since the wiiu won’t be seeing that many more games due to the nx coming in March.

Doesn’t Wii U support SD cards too? Talk about cheap!

ShiftySatchmo Yeah it does have an SD card slot on it.

Looks like Nintendo Switch will have a pretty mediocre battery life (around 3 HOURS) which is understandable because it’s probably running on Tegra GPU (known to suck battery faster than porn star suck male reproductive organ). Add to that 720p resolution, only 32 GB storage, no backward compatibility, the possible price of 399$ and docking station bought separately, well you’ll probably get “Dead on Birth” console. Although all specs details are speculations, if you take in-depth analysis they are closer to the truth than lie.

Zmajuga Speculation is…speculation. Let’s wait for facts before we judge, eh?

Would probably get better load times with an hdd. Even 1tb drives are cheap. The one I bought for my original wii in 2010 was only $CDN 60.
