Prev gens always had the same price point as the previous. So the performance boost was worth it. This time around they gave a little boost but they cranked the price samsung/apple style. So not worth it.
Get a 1080ti instead.

The raytracing taking so much FPS makes sense, it is brand new. The tech is really really cool though.
Of course, I am not against ray tracing, but I was pretty sure it is still too early to invest in it and buy these RTX cards. After a gen or two and when most of the games support it, sure. And when AMD releases their ray tracing cards, the prices will drop to a more affordable range. I am a patient man, my goal is still a 1440p monitor, I am way behind.
