RX 480 Cards Can Successfully be Flashed to RX 580

This is just awesome  The negative side of the “optimized new gen”. But I would never play with any BIOS, mobo or gpu. Too many risks.

Oh god that sucks. I bought a GT 630 just to know that the thing was flashed from a 9500GT. The Chinese hack masters will definitely use this to their advantage and sell the RX 480 (flashed to 580) for a price of a 580 on ebay. ayyyy world rox

Katsuo If I saw correctly in a review video, the new 580 is 10 dollars cheaper than a 480.

ButtStallion Really? That doesn’t really make any sense though. XD
Why would anyone buy a 480 then

Katsuo I was wrong, 40 dollars more on newegg for example. I read something very differently then

ButtStallion Still a bit too low, IMO. I thought it would be like 100 bucks difference haha

Katsuo The chinese 580 is 100 dollar cheaper, right

Weird, I’d have thought the 580 had at least some different parts… I haven’t read any reviews for them yet.

well it´s simply the same card with some power saving optimisations for multi monitor and video etc. and a few mhz more on the clock … that is basically all. Kinda like 290 and 390

Vega is love.

Two generations later and my Fury X cards are still not shaking in their boots. Still outperforms rx580.
