So should I sell it? The time seems right to do so if I was to it, don’t you think? I’d be happy with a GTX1060 6GB, probably the Gigabyte GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming, has the perks of being RGB over my RX480 which has no lighting whatsoever but that is the only difference, I guess I’m asking to see how easily could be pushed in that direction
I think the only reason to sell is that the BTC miners LOVE the RX480. Otherwise, that thing performs pretty darn well. I don’t think it’d be a good trade to go down to a 1060.
I’ve been thinking the same thing with my 480, but i’d look at at 1070 or 1080 if I went that route.
Unless you can go to a 1070 or higher, I wouldn’t bother. The 1060 & the 480 are on par, so I don’t see a valid reason to swap one for the other. Also consider that when the bubble bursts there will be an influx of ex-mining cards onto the 2nd hand market. You might be able to get a 2nd card for XFire cheap when it happens… not so if you have a 1060.
I say sell while the price is abnormally high and in demand. Couple of bucks added and you have 1070. No reason not to upgrade to 1070 or higher if you can afford it and the market is high for the rx 480. Would not go for 1060 either.
Should be able to just about sell and get a 1070. No point in a 1060 unless you really feel you need a disco in your case
I’d like to go the 1070 route, I’ve seen them at a decent price too! But it would be a little overkill for my Phenom II 1090T thurs the idea of the 1060 and gain a little money for a new HDD too and I can’t see me being able to afford a new CPU anytime soon either.
There is a 1070 shortage and premium pricing as a result of the 400/500 sales and subsequent shortage. I just sold my 480 and am sort of regretting it.
Maybe it is a good idea to sell now, but not a good idea to buy a new one
Only if you have a gpu in reserve until the prices go down again to normal levels.
Yea… I’ve had second thoughts about this idea, my RX480 might not have any RGB whatsoever but it does perform nicely for me and it isn’t much of an issue alongside my 1090T, I’m not going to disrupt the setup.
