Iām going a step further, Iām not even considering buying it until 1 year from launch day.
Zero fucks given to this game since they announced loot box microtransactions.
The feeble attempt to explain them away meets with a solid Taitie āyeah, nah, go fuck yourself.ā
At some point Iāll buy it, for a pittance & it will need to be shown that the loot box mechanic doesnāt fuck up the single player gameplay.
Remember, even Blizzard were taught the lesson, donāt push your customers down an aggressive aftermarket pricing structure with D3 & Iād say that if they hadnāt pissed about with the Auction House (& the obvious manner in which loot dropped solely for the purpose of putting it on the AH) the game would have a much stronger following than it currently does.
āOn that note, a quick word about the controversial microtransactions: you can and totally should ignore them completely. Buying loot boxes is just a way to get loot that isnāt killing uruks, which is the best thing about Shadow of War. Itās especially bizarre that these exist because so much of the allure of Shadow of War is that its enemies basically are loot boxes to begin with. So in buying them, youād basically be paying to avoid scratching off the metaphorical lottery ticket that is an urukās head to reveal the loot youāre about to acquire. On top of that, Iāve had more than enough of the in-game silver currency to buy whatever Iāve needed in terms of upgrades (itās used to enhance gear or unlock slots captain slots for sieges and defenses), so thereās been no need or even desire to spend a dime.ā

Look at the source. An IGN employee with a REVIEW copy. Of course the rates were fixed. Iāll believe it when a real person with a real post launch version says it. Still not even considering it until a year after release (minimum).
