I am so hyped.
Definitely looks cool. We shall seeeee
I still have to buy Divinity 2 OS. It’s the same dev right?
Yup!
I saw an article headline complaining that it’s turn based. Why is that a problem? I like turn based.
I agree with you. I also don’t have problem with that. IMO there is a small difference between real time with pauses and turn based. I’m even more fond of turn based game.
me too. I prefer turn based over real time.
turn based for sure, love turn based games
Well this is my next game! Currently running at max settings at 2160p>60 (usually >80, HDR: on, DLSS: Quality).
Been playing for the last couple days, it’s fun but I don’t get the hype. I also haven’t seen so many crying morons in a long time. They’re so butt hurt that it’s turn based. You’d think Larian murdered their families and sold the organs to China the way they’re moaning.
I’ve only found two problems so far. Some asshole corpo thought it would be a good idea to make the Larian account login/registration popup unskipable. You’ll need to add a command line arg in steam to skip it. Also, some asshole producer thought it would be a good idea to make single player unpausable. So if you want the effects of pause while not actually being paused, find a place where you know for sure there are no enemies. Alternatively, get into combat and wait for your turn. Nothing bad can happen until you take your turn. Other than those things, pretty fun so far. Will post more later!
After playing for a while, a lot of areas run over 100fps and sometimes over 144.
Would be surprising if it was running poorly on PC since it’s running really well on the steam deck
The settings and res on that are pretty low. I have it maxed with DLSS set to Quality. Only reason I’m using DLSS is because there’s one part of one town where I drop into the 50s without it.
I really hope the Switch 2 uses DLSS. At least we’ll have a 4k60 potato.
I know. But also the specs of the Steam deck are also low. My point was…the game is generally very well optimized for various hardware, considering it’s packed with details and random things.
Just beat it! It’s quite the excellent game, though it does highlight why most rpg video games keep the table top junk under the hood. A lot of times I felt like I was playing a pen and paper game…with a 3090. A lot of times I felt bored with the speed of battle. The very same story could have been just as good via either a real time or turn based modern style of RPG and would have been just as good, if not, better. I don’t mind playing real D&D from time to time, but it definitely leans closer to chores than it does leisure. I find playing table top games in video game form, defeats the point of video games…you know… to do all the shit paper and ink can’t do and well beyond.
I’m also I’m glad I waited so long to even acknowledge this game as a game. It was early access in 2018 or 2019 up until recently. I did notice a number of bits of jank in this game, imagine how broken it was back then. It boggles my mind that some players can latch on to broken early access junk for so long. Get out of the kitchen and wait until the restaurant brings your meal to your table ffs. You’re only encouraging devs to sell incomplete games for multi-year stints.
In it’s current form, recommended! Time until I play D&D again, a very long fucking time. I’m spent on those mechanics for the time being.
It wasn’t really broken. Nothing much from the combat and exploration side has changed from the early access to the finished product. Played the more or less same as it is now. Early access only had Act 1 and a couple of missions into the next Act. Optimization was the issue and they were working on that (and content) pretty much during the entire early access. I got the early access the moment they announced it on Steam so I played it a couple of hours.
