So this is my next game! Been playing for the past couple days. I can’t believe my eyes. Koei Tecmo has upgraded from half-assed to two-thirds-assed. It actually looks like something made in the last decade, actually has the warriors gameplay warriors gamers like, and they had no babysitter (publisher)!
Aside from a graphical face lift, they’ve added an overworld, and a stats upgrade system. In this particular game you play as a no-name character that you upgrade rpg style. So far I don’t see any point to the overworld, but maybe in a few years they’ll cobble together some more systems to have it make sense in a future title.
Some of the cut scenes are low quality, 30 fps, video clips. At least they’re 4k low quality 30 fps clips. In engine cut scenes are capped at 60 fps for some reason. I suspect both of these shitty things are because they originally made them for ps5/xboxsx and it matches the graphics settings on those systems. That and laziness.
I’m currently running at max settings at 2160p>60 (usually >80, often >100, HDR: On, DLSS: Off). It runs well, but it’s not exactly a hardware intense art style and they use geometry instancing up the wazoo… which begs the question, why does it run my cpu hotter than GOW Ragnarok? They’re definitely running some of the code too frequently.
I did have to pirate because poor, but would have purchased it on discount otherwise. I’m having fun though, will post more later!
