I beat this game last week.

It was great. Probably more than half of my time was in cut scenes, but the story was stellar. Combat was nothing crazy since it is all action combat, but it felt flashy and not monotonous.

I just started playing this yesterday. I don’t know what kind of ass it runs like on consoles, but it was a chore to figure out the right settings to make it playable on pc, especially given I have a 3090 and 5900x. I was able to get it running at max settings at 2060p>60 (usually >70, DLSS: performance, Reflex: enabled + boost, VRS: enabled, and manually downloaded the latest DLSS .dll file from nvidia and overwrote the one that came with the game). I also had to mod it (instructions on steam forum) to remove the 30fps cap on cut scenes. Given that there are so many, the game feels so broken going from playable to slide show in the blink of an eye. There are a handful of 30fps video clip cut scenes that you can’t fix without framegen (40 series+) and even if I had a 40 series, the low quality of the video can’t be fixed. This game is unplayable without nearly the full suite of nvidia-only features (the AMD and Intel knock off features still suck as of typing this).
So after force-fucking the game into behaving itself (Square Enix please do better by your massive PC audience), it’s actually quite fun. It’s one of the real-time final fantasy games, but it’s been so long since I played XV, I don’t know what the mechanical differences are. Having fun so far though. Will post more later!
Oh, also, nvidia reflex isn’t just for reduced input lag on esports titles, it gave me +20 fps in this game. Will be using it in all future titles that offer it!

Glad I waited for pc.

what massive pc audience? none of their games sell well on PC in any of the regions for the last 10 years.

Consider all regions. Consider sony doesn’t service many regions. Consider a corporation wouldn’t bother servicing said regions if there weren’t a massive amount of wallets to drain. Consider regions that can’t access steam are blocked by their government, not valve.

Two things:

  1. I fucking love that this game has no materia! It’s always a pain fucking around with materia constantly.

  2. There is a non-framegen fix for the 30fps video clip cut scenes: 60 fps Pre-Rendered cutscenes and cinematics at Final Fantasy XVI Nexus - Mods and community

Beat it last night(including both DLCs)! This is one of the best final fantasy games I’ve played! I’d totally be down for a XVI-2! Recommended!
