GPU temp increase.

Anyone else have an increase in tempertures with the RX480 on the latest drivers? I’m seeing a crazy jump as high as 6c and nothing has changed in the setup other than the latest drivers, fans spin faster now aswel which is odd too… That’s a lot of extra heat being generated.

Techtu84 Maybe the outside temp is going up? :stuck_out_tongue: My room temp went up just around 6 since the winter ended
Summer is coming. Time to reduce the cpu overclocks

Hard to notice on fury x… so i dunno.

Just check whether the new update has changed the auto fan curves or anything like that. Also Wattman may have altered the power settings too. I’m not currently running the RX 480 so I can’t say I’ve noticed anything.

I never look at those because it comes with liquid stock. The temps are their usual. (i have cpu, gpu1, and gpu2 temps on osd always).

gord0 Yeah - I have the feeling the FuryX is pretty damn bullet proof because of that.

I haven’t noticed anything wierd with my rx480 since last update. Other than it’s running better with a few games. No temp differences. And no fan speed differences.

Quick way to sort it out: roll back, if problem not gone your house is warmer. If problem fixed, wait for next driver update.

The house might be a degree warmer at the most, I’m a freak and like the temperature to be around 22/23c most of the time, set by a room thermastat. I’ll try rolling back the drivers later on and see what that does for me.

Normally I only update when the update includes fixes/performance boost for the game I’m currently playing, or is non-beta. But since the latest update has compatibility stuff for the windows update, I would have updated even if it was beta. But no ill effects on my side so far.

I accually did a clean install and then turned around installed the drivers for rx 580/570 and my temps droped by 5c - 10c on load with my rx 470

So what you’re saying is you did a clean install of the 470 drivers. It’s the same download. The installer detects your card and installs the corresponding driver.

Gorkie 5 to 10 C lower temperature with driver? Hmm that is too much even for thermal paste or air cooling … That driver must be a miracle of thermodynamics …

gord0 Pretty much.

Mark2K77 Yea I found it strange my self. But It happen, im thinking it could just be the ambient temps right now when I think about it. Im gonna change my thermalpaste to MasterGel Nano here from the stock stuff soon though and see how it goes.

Why do you change thermal paste so much? There really isn’t that much diff between most brands…or am I mixing up you posting about paste a lot with you actually changing the paste?

gord0 I ran out of thermal not long ago, after my MSI 970 motherboard went wonky and had to use what I had left to build a temp pc out of old parts till I could figure out how to fix my 970… I got it fixed but had to order new thermal paste anyhow so I decided to give MasterGel nano a try other wise I usally use MX4.
