That’s a great read!
All I can say is that I get motion sickness at under 45 fps. Gaming above that simply doesn’t trigger it. Good read… factual which is a refreshing change.
I feel the same as Trainsmash, I feel it okay only above 45-60 fps. maybe a console player get used to the 30 or even a pc gamer, but I can’t even play a strategy game under that. I used to this in my 15 years as a gamer
Believe it or not, I actually prefer certain games at 30 fps. Most I want 45 to 60 like everyone else, but for some reason if it is like a cartoon style I like it low.
I didn’t read because this subject has been beaten to death. I can tell the diff between 15, 20, 30, 45, 50, and 60. My monitor is 60hz. These are all the pieces of info I need lol. When I get a monitor with higher hz, I’ll find out what differences I can see above 60. Until then I don’t care. These are all the pieces of info I need lol.
For me? Its all about consistency! The way I understand it is that the eye really catches the variations of framerate. Then many many games work on the timing of the frames. So playing it at 30 will feel different than at 60 so maybe you pick that up in a visual manner but its more feel for me. I much prefer higher but I too have played many games at 30 if they feel “right” still. I’m after the consistency! I’m always shooting for 59~61. Which speaking of, random tip I’ve heard for many games is they like a prime number if you use a framerate cap/lock to avoid stuff like tearing (obviously this is in a situation you aren’t trying to vsync with your monitor). Its an interesting topic but like most things; subjective. If you can enjoy a game at 10fps, enjoy it! If you NEED 144, go get your 144. But remember, its you.
I literally don’t care about framerate. I just hate the microstutters. For example when the framerate drops from 5000 to 10 for one microsecond and goes back up to 5000 and it does the same stutter thing over and over again. It’s almost like the game is raping your liver.
I’ve rarely played games in 60 fps anyway so I think I got used to low framerates. I just want the game to be good with a good storyline. Everything else is just a bonus.
Katsuo do you set the frame limiter at 5 just to watch the world burn?
ShiftySatchmo I set it to 6 so it’s closer to the number of the devil
