I tried Dying Light 3 times. I unistalled it after 2 hours 3 times. Not my type of game.
ButtStallion You have to play it together with friends, it is really funny and the story is really good for a zombie game
PeaceLeon My problem again is the open world Katsou know how I hate it
Except if I can drive a car through it
PeaceLeon said in Katsuo - January Gamer Challenge:
ShiftySatchmo We should play Coop by time
I am about 12 hours in with sYnCroSis
ButtStallion you get vehicles eventually and a grappling hook
Waaaaaait. It’s open world?? That’s something I didn’t know.
ShiftySatchmo But you are playing it on PC or PS4?
PeaceLeon He’s playing it on Steam. I know that because I get angry whenever he’s playing a game that’s not SOMA.
Katsuo XD
Finished Blackguards. This game is a perfect example of having a great storyline but it’s kinda ruined with a horrible combat. For those that don’t know, Blackguards is a CRPG made by Daedalic Entertainment. http://store.steampowered.com/app/249650/
I really like turn-based games. They are usually challenging and sometimes rewarding if you finish the combat properly. Well, Blackguards has the turn-based combat system but it’s so freaking broken and it’s so frustrating. Why broken and frustrating? Well, it’s broken because all the stats you have in the game, mean absolutely nothing in the combat. You can have all the stats maxed out and you would still deal low damage because I have no idea what the devs were thinking when they were making the game. That’s one of the flaws the combat has. Having a 100% chance to hit the target and you miss it after executing a command? That’s frustrating. And it happened tons of times. Applying poison to your enemy while you have 100% chance of hitting it and at the end the character misses the poison and your entire party dies because the game is broken? Well, yes please. I totally wanted that Daedalic! This is what makes the game lose the dynamic part in turn based combat system. What’s the point of having the stats in the game, when everything is a RNG?! A broken RNG, that is. The game also loses the RPG part and you don’t really have anything RPG-ish in the game. No crafting, no exploration, no proper character customization, no character development for the combat etc. I could go on a few hundred lines and explain what else is wrong with the combat but I think you get the idea how bad the combat is.
Now the good part. The good part is the storyline. And how the story progresses. The story is the reason why I kept playing Blackguards. It’s awesome. Everything is on point and the voice acting makes the whole thing even better. There are some plot-twists that makes the storyline fresh and it really escapes the dull part pretty safely. That is something I wish more of these newer games have. More plot-twists. While the game has a bit too many loading screens, I approved the loading screens because they were filled with some awesome artwork. I have to admit that Daedalic makes some sick artwork. Blackguards is overall a pretty game. Colorful when it needs to be colorful and dark when the story says that it has to be dark. But, I have a feeling they could’ve done the animations a bit better. The lip sync is completely off.
The cutscenes are absolutely broken and every time a cutscene appeared, I get a huge framerate drop and as it seems, everyone has the same problem as me. So the game could definitely need more polish.
Not to mention how the achievements broken are. If you want a certain achievement to pop up, you have to mess around with txt files and even that gets a bit frustrating but whatever. I’ll 100% it because I feel the game deserves it.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a proper screenshot of the game since the game is foggy and the screenshots looks bad because of that.
It’s kinda hard to rate the game. I really disliked the combat and the animations but the artwork and the storyline were great and I think I’ve had fun with this one. Especially when I paid 1 euro for the game. I’d say that the game is somewhere between 5 and 6 out of 10 on the GX scale.
5 games in 16 days. Do you work? Or study? Or just travelling time but not killing Hitler? What are you? SAY IT!
ButtStallion I’m not working nor studying. January is a month where no one here works for around 20 days because it’s forbidden. So why not just destroy yourself while playing games <3
Katsuo That’s some serious animal cruelty at pic No2. XD
Zmajuga Yeah I call that attack headinbutt att…okay nevermind. Just don’t tell PETA. :S
Finished Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. This is literally the best fighting game I’ve ever played. Everything is so freaking excellent in this game. For a fighting game, I’m giving this 9.5/10. The only bad thing about this game is that the multiplayer is a bit dead. All in all, Naruto Shippuden: UNS4 is one of my favorite games and that’s coming from someone who’s not a huge fan of Naruto anime series.
Totally recommended if you watched the anime series or you got sick of the fillers in the last arc and you just want to skip the fillers and move on with the story. It perfectly tells you what happened in the ending of the shinobi war.
Finished Pixel Puzzles: Japan. Great puzzle game! It’s addicting as hell. I started the game last year and forgot about it for some reason. So I decided to complete the game and earn the achievements. Everyone who likes puzzle games, Pixel Puzzles is a game to get!
These are the game I finished. I’ve started them 2 years ago (maybe even before that) and never bothered to finish them. The main reason was simply because I had non-indie games that I wanted to finish first. And now that I’ve cleaned my backlog, I decided to do the achievements for a few indie games which, I have to say, are awesome.
The first game I’ve finished is Paranormal State: Poison Spring. This game is a Hidden Object/Point and Click game where you progress through storyline by finding hidden objects (duuh!!) and well, by clicking stuff. While it does sound boring, I gotta say that this game has some pretty interesting storyline and the “puzzles” can be rather fun. What I didn’t like is that the game had some horror elements in the game which is meh for me. But that’s mainly because I’m such a wuss that’s scared to play anything horror-ish.
If you like HOG point and click games, I’d say you’ll enjoy this 100%. For an indie game, it’s really good. I’m giving it 6.5/10
The second game on the list is Relic Hunters Zero. Relic Hunters Zero is a free to play pixelated action shooter.
From all indie games I’ve played, this game is actually really fun. You are basically shooting ducks and turtles to clean the space from evil. But the best part is that the whole thing is running really smooth. And by that I mean that I’ve never been so satisfied while shooting stuff. It’s so good. There are several characters in the game and every single one of them has his own gun and every gun works differently. The art style is awesome and the game has some really nice vibrant colors that looks awesome. For a pixelated shooter I will give this a 8/10. It’s fun.
The third game is Revolver360 RE:Actor. It’s a Japanese bullet hell that reminds me a lot of G.Darius on PS1. And that’s the reason why I decided to 100% the game because nostalgia kicked me hard. The game is extremely flashy, so beware in case you are sensitive to flashy images. This game has no storyline, no crazy artstyle (everything is blue) but it has some sick music and it’s fun! So for a bullet hell game, this one is 8/10 from me.
Fourth game would be Jet Gunner. It’s a small and crazy platformer that awfully reminds me of Metal Slug. And that’s the reason why I played this game to the end. It has some storyline which is basically a copy paste from Metal Slug. It feels old school, it looks like that and it’s also challenging as hell. Especially on hardcore missions which I barely beat. This game is normally 2 hours long but as you can see, it took me 11 hours to beat it fully. Yeah, I might be a noob. 6/10
The last game is Stealth Inc 2. I’m pretty sure everyone knows about Stealth Inc 2. It’s one of the best platformers I’ve ever played. You are basically controlling a clone that wants to escape with friends from the facility. The art style is awesome. The puzzles are awesome and it’s challenging in some parts. What’s even better, you can also submit your own map and let everyone try your map. The leaderboard is not working in this game and I guess that would be a con because this game is perfect for speedrunning it. But I guess not every game can be perfect. I’ll give this one 8/10.
Katsuo but…it’s February
ShiftySatchmo Oh boy. You are a mod. Would you be so kind and fix the mistakes I intentionally made? XD
Katsuo are you trying to pad your gamer challenge results?!
