Really hard to name just 5… I will try my best though. It’s in no particular order though.

Bastion: Those who have known me for a while also know that the first game I ever recommend to people is Bastion. I discovered this wonderful indie game by a complete surprise and I just loved what was presented to me. What I fell in love with was the narration; it was too damn perfect and every time I played this game I still got goosebumbs in specific parts of the story. Bastion isn’t the most complex game you will find, or with the groundbreaking gameplay, but every aspect is polished to an extent that allows everything to be balance; good story, good soundtrack (fantastic actually) a nice and original difficulty curve, I just love it.

Metal Gear Solid: Probably the first game I ever played on my first console (except the handheld Game Boy Color, Pokemon and Mario and all that stuff) This game introduced me worlds that as an 9 year old boy I had no idea about. Even now, when I replay it, I am always in awe by the sheer epicness of the whole experience there. The story is still one of the best I have seen in a game, the voice acting is top notch, the combat is fun and all bosses have different strategies from each other. All that including Hideo Kojima’s attention to every detail has created my favorite game ever.

Final Fantasy IX: There are a lot of FFs that are worthy of becoming top choices in any list. Who can argue with FFVII for example? FFX brought so many new things in the Final Fantasy world (Cutscenes instead of FMVs, voice acting, stunning graphics) and the latest installment, FFXV is as advertised, an experience unique to both new and old FF players. However, to me, FFIX holds a special place at my heart. I couldn’t tell you why I am so enthralled with the specific title; I just am. Maybe it’s the characters. Almost the entire roster of FFIX is important to me (with the exception of maybe Eiko, I prefer even Quinna over her) Although the ending is quite anticlimactic in my opinion, the road towards there is a journey full of wonderful experiences.

Alien: Isolation: In general, I love horror games and I am actually very easily influenced by them, something I both love and I am totally scared of! To me, a good horror game consists of an atmosphere that makes you feel dread and terror in every corner; I can forgive most other aspects, but the atmosphere is a must. Jump scares are good and all, but that’s not true horror. To that end, my favorite horror game has to be Alien: Isolation. You are trapped in a huge spaceship with nowhere to run and the hiding places are few. There is danger in every corner, fellow survivors, crazy androids and so on, but nothing, NOTHING, comes close to the Alien. It is always there and never seen easily, in fact the scarier part is when you CAN’T see it. You have ways of locating it, but the chances of it finding you because of the noice you create in order to find it are so high, you feel almost inclined NOT to use them. There are a lot of great horror games I could mention, such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent, but this title is entering my list of Top 5.

World of Warcraft: I have played many games that are worthy of entering such lists. Many wonderful games exist that I haven’t even touched yet (I am looking at you Persona 5 and Resident Evil 7) However, to me, World of Warcraft has become a huge part of my life, despite me clocking very few hours in the past couple of years. Azeroth is my second home; I know most of it and I love to discover and re-discover it all over again. Even now, when I enter areas such Feralas, Eversong Woods, Darnassus, Grizzly Hills and so many different areas, I always feel awe and sometimes, right where I belong. WoW not only has some of the best lore I have ever seen in a video game, but the entire aspect of the game is based on you exploring this vast world and defend it with the help of friends and other heroes of the Horde or Alliance.

So there you have it! Sorry for the long post!
