Very fast paced. Faster than Dark Souls and it’s really dark. It’s freaking awesome! Although, I wouldn’t say it’s harder than Dark Souls. The reason for that is simply because in Nioh you have all the super-powers that you get from hitting enemies. When you activate the power, you are resistant to all enemy attacks, can’t be staggered and you deal a nice amount of damage. There is no such thing in Dark Souls. And that’s why DS is a harder game. I’d say Nioh is more friendly and forgiving than Dark Souls. The enemies deal a crap ton of damage but it’s really easy to dodge their attacks. Well, at least it’s easy to dodge the normal NPCs. The enhanced ones are a bit tricky to kill since they have tons of health and they deal A LOT of damage with only one hit and you can’t stagger them fast.
I still haven’t found the big boss (I hope there is one) so I can’t say if the bosses in Nioh are crazy strong or not and I don’t know if they are harder to beat than in Dark Souls.
So far, I really like the game and it’s definitely on the must-buy list. Whoever likes Soulsborne games, I’m pretty sure they will like Nioh. I’ll definitely replay the trial when I finish it. Haven’t played Souls-like game for quite a while :S
Boss Ogress beaten and with it I beat the trial and got the rewards for the full game. Scratch the thing that the game is not harder than Dark Souls. The mobs are easy but the boss. HOLY CRAP! It has 5 different attack patterns. It can kill you in 3 hits. Sometimes 2 if it crits you. I basically died at least 10 times. Ogress literally rapes your butt in the most brutal way. And on top of that, Ogress didn’t cut her/his fingernails. And when that scratches you. It fucking hurts! But on the bright side, when I beat Ogress, I was extremely excited. I wanted to go out naked and hang out with the snowman I built in front of my house. :S
Also there was a second sub-mission where you have to beat a samurai. Apparently you have to be at least lvl 15 for that and I was lvl 7. When I started the mission, the samurai literally slashed my face twice in matter of nanoseconds. Turned off the console after that and took a bottle of depression and started to think about life.
Nioh is freaking gooooooood.
I wasn’t a huge fan of it. It seemed like a more complicated Dark Souls that didn’t have a good feel for what it wanted to be. I was playing it at PSX. I may give it a go if it is real cheap some day.

teh_g You are right. The game is a complicated version of Dark Souls. It’s almost like they wanted to implement Ninja Gaiden combo/skill system in a Dark Souls theme. It’s not a bad thing but I think it’s completely unnecessary. I ignored a lot of features that the game has like learning the skill system and putting the skills and combos into slots to make the character stronger. I disliked the part where you have press 500 buttons to make a cool combo because I don’t know why. I guess I wanted Nioh to feel more like a Dark Souls game than a Nioh game haha
Nioh is worse than Dark Souls but it’s as good as Ninja Gaiden. And it’s screaming for Onimusha. So I guess if someone is a fan of either of DS or NG, they’ll like Nioh. It’s a great game and everyone should try it out. If you find a nice deal for the game, get it immediately!
