ShiftySatchmo Games I Beat in 2025

I continue to beat the odds by finding time to beat a few games!

2/26/25: Civilization VII (PC) ~ 15 hours (no idea)
5/11/25: Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (PC) ~ 30 hours
8/6/25: Sackboy: A Big Adventure (PS5) ~ 14 Hours
8/26/25: Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster (Switch 2) ~ 10 hours
9/16/25: Clair Obscur Expedition 33 (PC) ~ 30 hours

I beat Civ VII today as king Xerxes. I had an economic victory, though I also wiped a couple of other civs off the map because they declared war on me. All in all it’s a fun game, but it felt a little too easy on the default settings. I’ll give it another shot on a harder difficulty.

I have been playing it too, and noticing that you have been playing it!

I am only mid way through my first play through, but I agree with you. So far, it feels fun, a bit easy on default.

I didnt even know you can finish something in CIV games. Thought those are neverending. Like MMOs or something

Long time, no see! I beat Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. I started it on the normie version, and I’d say the upgrade was certainly worthwhile. It was a lot prettier. Anyway, the story was decent. The gameplay was oooooooooooooK. The final boss was basically just a normal enemy, which is pretty lame

I liked the first one enough to finish it twice. Forbidden West is boring though. Really didnt like it.

Heyyyyy! I finally beat Sackboy: A Big Adventure with my son. It took like a hundred years or something. We kept getting distracted. Anyway, it was a lot of fun to play with a kid. I’m not sure if I would have liked it nearly as much solo. Couch co-op is the way on this one if you can manage it!

I beat the very first Final Fantasy game via the pixel remaster on Switch 2. There was a big sale on the collection a while back and I never played/beat most of the 2D ones so I figured why not? It was fun and pretty refreshing to play an old fashioned game where you just wander around figuring things out. Being able to turn off random encounters was an awesome QOL addition. I also appreciated discovering the xp multiplier so I didn’t have to grind for five hours to beat the last boss. If you like JRPGs and older games, I feel like it’s a must.

Fun fact, a lot of people do think Final Fantasy 1 was one of the worst FF games

Worse than 13?!

I liked 13 1 and 2, refused to play 3 because the pc port was god awful… that said I can’t remember anything that happened in either game.

I liked all 3 FF13 games. I find them better than most older entries. It’s just that the games had a huge gameplay change with the shitty ATB system. Although these were available in FF12 too. And also the backtracking.

8 is forever my favorite just because of what I was going through when I played it

I finally beat Clair Obscur Expedition 33. @gord0 I know you didn’t love the gameplay but you should try on story mode because it’s a great experience. Amazing story and…the soundtrack!!! The soundtrack was so good I preordered the vinyl. Anyway, the story is a beautiful tale on dealing with grief. I know the endings are not loved by all, but I think the one I chose was the better option. Curious to see what comes next in the universe. The creators made it sound like Clair Obscur was going to be an anthology.

Of the ff games I’ve played, that’s the only one I dropped out of boredom.

I get it. I’ve thought games people liked were boring too. Like how I can’t get through red dead redemption 2

RDR2 starts really weird but that game is also a must play. Insanely good written story.

Once I saw it was like 1000 actions to pick up an item I was like meh

I know I liked it enough to beat it, though it’s been long enough that I barely remember the specifics.
