The new CPU king of the budget build!

This thing just killed the i3 market and i was a huge proponent of the i3 6100 after buying it and coupling it with a 1060. Well, read the article and see for yourself!

Until Ryzen comes out at least

teh_g if the tweak town price leak is anything to go by, their cheapest cpu is double the cost of this.

Does that mean, that the i3 CPU“s are again pointless? XD

MeFFFlenn again?

Adnan_Popara Was thinking the same thing as i3 has always had some decent options for budget builds.

Only0neKnight especially the skylake i3’s. take for example i3 6320. it has a great potential, it’s cheaper that lower end i5’s and performs almost the same as those i5’s. I thought about getting one but then Marko stepped in and offered me much better deal

MeFFFlenn biggest problem on CPU market is end user and marketing department … most of regular PC abusers would like to have inexpensive CPU with solid performance … and Intel Pentium and Core i3 are relatively good solution (entry level gaming, home multimedia and the ability of virtualization) . Now marketing is artificially producing classes of products (they could just use same name for all G4xxx and i3 product classes). All i5 and i7 should be one product range … and damn i7 extreme is nothing else than low end Xeon E5 so it should be part of Xeon E5 Range … But both AMD and Intel using same fucktarded marketing tactics last 5 years, hype and brain washing (like now with this so-called quasi-journalism and leaking unconfirmed information. So I’m very sure that in any other situation leakage of information would be called out industrial espionage, if products are not ready for sale) … Why marketing is artificially producing classes of products? Coz on that way they earn shitload of money also people are to stupid to check product specifications, so most of them buy CPU by brand name or because it is must have product, coz somebody says so. That is why we have market flooded with identical products with different names …

Mark2K77 I said ā€œpointlessā€ again, because before the Skylake i3Ā“s previous genĀ“s were rubbish for the price. An AMD FX6300 was the bang for the buck CPU and before that one it was an AMD Phenom 2 965 for roughly the same money. Because i3Ā“s didnĀ“t perform that well in desktops, only big market for the i3 was and still is entry level laptops.

MeFFFlenn haswell i3 were and still are better choice than fx6300. They cost the same here but i3 offers better performance. But I’d get Skylake simply because it can compete with fx8000 series which cost much more.

Adnan_Popara Nope the i3 4150 was always 20 euros more exepensive, then AMD FX 6300 + 20-50 euroĀ“s more expensive for the board… making it rubbish overall for the price. And in Multicore things it still got blown away by the AMD

MeFFFlenn I disagree completely. You dont have to get z97 mobo for an i3 that doesnt overclock. You can easily get h81 mobo which are dirt cheap. Multicore performance in gaming is completely irrelevant. It’s singlecore performance that counts. And if I wanted a great multicore performer I’d get an older xeon which will still destroy anything amd has to offer.

Adnan_Popara ah thx for pointing out, that you are an Intel Fanboy

MeFFFlenn why wouldnt I be a ā€˜fanboy’? I mean, even with the relatively high price tag, intel still makes the best cpus. And that’s even with ryzen coming out.

Adnan_Popara I think you really want to believe that so much but all the ā€œleaksā€ thus far are proving you wrong. It’s stupid to be a fanboy to any product. AMD at one point was the go to. They fell behind for a long time. You know who paid the price? The consumer. The lack of competition allowed Intel and Nvidia to crank up pricing because hey they were the best and they could charge whatever they wanted. Instead of being Debbie Downer and shitting on AMD constantly maybe you should hope they are everything they say they are, your fanboy dollars will go much further!

Spinalfailed leaks! That’s the problem. AMD is intentionally hyping up the ryzen. And I get that. But I’d rather wait and see benchmarks done by someone who’s not paid by amd. I also hope ryzen succeeds. Maybe then Intel will decide and lower the prices. I hope it doesn’t turn out to be another $800 FX 9590 5ghz hype which turned out to be nothing but factory overclocked FX 8350

I, for one, am hopeful, but not pinning any plans on Ryzen until full & proper reviews are out. That said the prices of the chips & motherboards looks to be a shot across the bow of Intel.

I want Ryzen to succeed because the more options available to us the better it is for consumers.

As for reviews not paid for by ā€œXā€ company there’s fewer and fewer true unbiased reviewers out there these days. What we’re seeing instead is an influx of ā€œinfluencersā€ who are asked to post a video or blog about a product & gloss over any short comings.

It may be worth a separate thread to list who our trusted sources are? For instance I love the Hardware Canucks channel for their quality videos & breakdown on aesthetics, noise & cable management, but I wouldn’t trust them for a full on tech review on a motherboard or GPU. And then there’s some channels that are just plain trash and are dropping further by the day.
