What do you guys think about sex/romantic scenes in videogames? Necessary or not? Stupid? Not stupid?
I find sex/nude scenes stupid and unnecessary. It looks stupid, it doesn’t provide any type of entertainment for me and it doesn’t make any sense even if the characters in the game are actually husband and wife or whatever.
Romantic scenes on the other hand are okay-ish as long as it affects the character development throughout the story. If it’s just, there…then I find that also dumb haha
Write a bit…give me your opinion. I’m bored as hell.
I agreeee. They are really awkward haha. Sometimes the romantic scenes are really cheesy and awkward too like when squall and rinoa are in space. I mean I love that game and it makes me feel silly every time.

Doesn’t bother me if it’s quick. Though that’s my thoughts on most cut scenes.
I think it’s completely unnecessary. The worst was in Heavy Rain. The controls in that game were mostly garbage anyways. They had you move a thumbstick or press a button for everything like buckling a seat belt or opening a mailbox.
Where it got uncomfortable was when you got to a “choose what happens next” type of event. The main dude was talking to the girl and I chose the option that I thought wouldn’t lead to sex. It was a bait and switch. The characters started making out and I literally had to button press to make the dude make out. Then they force you without option to button press and take off her top, then her bra… it was the pinnacle of terrible crappy crap… just silly and awful.
As for romantic scenes, if they’re done well and for purpose, can lead to making a story great. Hellblade had some semi romantic flashback things to really let you feel Senua’s love for Dillion and how they fell for each other. It’s actually incredibly moving and you really feel for her once you learn what became of their relationship. It was such a motivating factor to the game story and her condition, and it was done so well. The music and acting for a particular flash back was so good I still listen to that song on YouTube and reminisce about how I felt during the marathoned play through.
Does not bother me, but also I think it depends on the game. Dragon Age Inquisition had some comical moments in there sex scenes like the one with Sera.
The sex scene in the original God of war is about the only one I can remember being fine with. Usually, they’re just kinda awkward. Looks so janky and lifeless. Romantic scenes usually make me feel uncomfortable. Mostly for the same reasons. It just sort of looks awkward. Characters aren’t realistic enough to portray those kinds of emotions properly. Now in say a game where the dialogue is completely text-based nowhere near as awkward.
Joke answer:
Sex scenes are totally fine as long as its a cutscene or a game I can play with one hand.
syncrosis That’s exactly why I said that romantic things in the game are okay if it affects the character development. You could feel the love between Dillion and Senua. Damn it…I have to replay the game now…
Also one cool example where I could accept the romantic stuff in a game is basically the entire Final Fantasy X game. It so well done and you feel all giggly when you see Tidus and Yuna together hihihihihihihiihi
gorkie Unfortunately, I didn’t see any love between Noctis and Luna. Luna had so much potential to become such a great character if she was actually in the game. Right now, I can’t see them as a couple nor their story as a love story. Just childhood friends that failed to use their freaking phones to chat. Poor Umbra.

I think all npcs should have phones. That way they could just call eachother instead of sending you all over the map as a middle man. Bloody busywork!

In FFXV they have it. They just refuse to use it. Or their Android/iOS is like 1.0 and has no features of…anything?
