Odd, you could still chat via the main app not long ago. Why use it if you weren’t forced?
The main app had a terrible chat and it was as responsive as a dead man. So I used the other chat app which was better in every way. I still used the main app to accept gifts or buy games since the other one didn’t have a store page thing at the time.

I don’t get why they don’t put the good chat into the main app. Programmatically it’s as simple as removing the old chat. Multiple apps for the same service is stupid.
I don’t get it. I just clicked on the friends and chat button on the main app and it still worked fine for me.
Might be a regional roll out.
Out of curiosity I checked. Redirected me to the app download. 
I agree it is strange and annoying to require two apps.
Or 3, if you count the streaming thing…which works surprisingly well

The transfer across the network thing? yeah thats been in a while now, and it is very cool. If you don’t know, you can also PLAY across the network.
Like, if I have both my steam pc’s on, I can be on one of them, and simply play a game from the pc I’m on, that is installed on the other pc on the network, without even having to transfer it.
Yeah, I knew about the streaming, only just found out about the network install. Was getting my laptop ready for the holidays…though I didn’t know I’d beat DAV last night. So on to the next game.
