Time for that important PSU upgrade! Which PSU though?

So I’ve finally got some funds for this new PSU I need, just having trouble deciding on which one I should go for, I’ve been looking at the EVGA SuperNova 650 G1 but I’ve just checked reviews and I can only find outdated reviews that don’t really apply to this newer model. It main thing that I like about this is the 10 year warranty and it being fully modular for £70! Which happens to be at the very top end of the budget.

Throw your suggestions at me and if you’re able to supply a link to where I can buy from within the UK.

I had the supernova b2 750w EVGA PSU in my last PC. Thing was just plain awesome. I don’t think you can go wrong with EVGA. Personally.

I currently am running an EVGA 600w non modular 80plus ATM I like EVGA alot

Only0neKnight The EVGA G1 I was looking at had really bad voltage fluctuations with the first version, they have since “fixed” this but I’m unable to find any newer reviews, I guess the 10 year warranty is a big statement from them saying it is actually fixed but no reviews…

Techtu84 I hear ya. But you can count on them standing behind the warranty. I’ve only had excellent customer service from them.

Only0neKnight The only other option that stands out to me is the SeaSonic Strider 600w Modular.

Or this http://www.ebuyer.com/584149-coolermaster-gm-series-650w-semi-modular-80-bronze-power-supply-rs650-amaab1-uk or http://www.ebuyer.com/743021-corsair-cx650m-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020103-uk

What are your actual system specs?

Alos stay away from that Cheap Corsair CX rubbish PSU.

Mark2K77 I honestly thought it was the VS range to stay away from, I guess it’s both.

Techtu84 Ya, heard too many horror stories, mostly on higher end builds but still something to be wary of.

The higher end Corsair PSUs are solid but probably a bit out of price range. I’ve personally been using be quiet! and Cooler Master PSUs for last couple of years without any issues.

Techtu84 yeah CX and VS is no go  and most likely CX-M …

Techtu84 I had thought the G1 was the original model with no improvements & the G2 was the revised edition with the better ripple.

So if you are looking at purchasing the G1 it will come with the issues you were going to avoid.

I can’t find any information to say otherwise.

Sgt_T8ie wrong  model version is represented in Part number with last two letters like this :

P/N: 210-GQ-0750-V1
EVGA 750 GQ, 80+ GOLD

P/N: 110-B2-0750-VR
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B2, 80+ BRONZE

P/N: 120-G1-0750-XR
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1, 80+ GOLD

P/N: 220-G2-0750-XR
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2, 80+ GOLD

P/N: 220-G3-0750-X1
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3, 80+ GOLD

P/N: 220-GL-0750-X1
EVGA Supernova 750 G2L, 80+ GOLD

next iteration of PSU will get a new designation X1 will evolve in X2 or X3 (XR is the final model or completion of series V1 is prototype or first untested generation, Xn is stable version) 120 or 220 in P/N is input voltage …

G1 or G2 and so on represent Efficiency level and performance level of PSU

Techtu84 sounds solid for the price range you are looking at. Skimmed a few pro and consumer reviews.

ShiftySatchmo The only thing that puts me off this one is that it’s been around for quite a few years, isn’t there any new tech to look out for with newer PSU’s?
